Puja for two trees

The gnarly trunk of an old growth Eucalyptus tree in south west Western Australia.

The energy of this old being in the West Australian bush is completely different to a garden tree like my cherry blossom.

31st May, 2010

Yesterday I did tree puja elsewhere. We held a retreat. Everyone did tree puja at dawn.

I went to a small tree on the edge of the bush. Oh, what a beautiful being you are! I felt overwhelmed and gladdened by it, it leapt out and into me. As I closed my eyes, my mind jumped to the cherry blossom at home. I saw her and she received the puja as though I was at home. That tree on the edge of the bush had such wisdom and strength and generosity that time and space were no barrier, and the puja served for both trees.

This morning I am home. I went just now. The dawn comes very late. Unlike the bush tree, this one is in retreat. It was too early, there was insufficient energy in the atmosphere. She nodded, barely, and was still.
